Inclusivity for all is the message from Bishop of Elphin

There is place for everyone at the Catholic Church table, according to the Bishop of Elphin Kevin Doran.

Speaking at Knock Shrine yesterday, the Bishop addressed the discomfort felt within certain communities as the Church’s role with Irish society continues to develop.

Last week, Bishop Doran was singled out for praise by former President Mary McAleese for his contribution to the synodal process among Catholics across Ireland. In particular she referred to the LBGTI+ focus group in his diocese.

Census results show a fall of 132,220 people identifying as Catholic in 2016.

In his eulogy, Bishop Doran again highlighted the need for inclusivity within the Catholic Church.
