Letterkenny University Hospital has the longest average consultant waiting time in the country.

A recent study conducted by the Irish Patients’ Association has found Letterkenny University Hospital to have the worst rating in the Country when it comes to the average waiting time to see a consultant.

The survey has found that the average waiting time is 11.7 months.

In response to the findings the Irish Patients’ Association are calling on the HSE to delegate authority to someone with overall accountability for managing hospital waiting lists around the Country.  The group claim that the situation is ‘getting worse and not better’.

Stephen McMahon of the IPA says the situation is not much better in other regional hospitals.
