Sligo Rovers sign defender Cameron Evans

Sligo Rovers have announced the signing of Welsh defender Cameron Evans.

The former Swansea City and Waterford FC player joins the club on a deal until the end of the 2022 season.

During his spell at Waterford FC, Evans came up against Sligo Rovers and is looking forward to playing for The Bit O’Red, telling sligorovers.com: “From playing against Sligo Rovers a couple of times I know the type of football club I am coming into and I can’t wait to get started.”

“John (Russell) has shown great faith in me and I am looking to pay that back and make an impression here and keep the team going in the right direction for the rest of the season.”

21-year-old Evans, who can also play in central midfield arrives on the day Sligo Rovers announced defender Garry has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury that will see the Cork native absent for the remainder of the 2022 and a large chunk of the 2023 season.
