Eanna Clancy signs senior pro contract with Sligo Rovers

Sligo Rovers academy graduate Eanna Clancy has signed his first senior professional contract with the club.

The Glenfarne native originally signed for the Sligo Rovers U17 from Manorhamilton Rangers.

Clancy’s new contract extends the 18-year-old’s stay with Rovers until the end of the 2024 season.

Clancy has played at underage school’s level for The Republic of Ireland.

Speaking to sligorovers.com, Clancy spoke of his delight on signing professional terms:

‘’I am very happy to have signed for the club today. It is my first professional contract and it is something that I have worked hard for in the last few years.

‘’It is a great club here and it just goes to show that if you work hard and do well in our youth teams that you’ll be given a chance to progress and make it with the seniors.”

Clancy has made two senior appearances to date for The Bit O’Red appearing off the bench for his debut against UCD in the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division and his first start vs Wexford FC in the FAI Cup a week later.

As a student at St. Claire’s Comprehensive School, Manorhamilton, Clancy was part of the Connacht team that won the U18 School’s Interprovincial Series in 2021.
