Sligo Pride festival protest march is taking place in Sligo town today Saturday, August 6th is expected to be the largely attended of the week’s events.
It has been a week for the festival which has been running since August 1st.
The highlight of this year’s event is a protest and not a parade reflecting the reality felt by many members of the Pride community with threat of violence persisting of many.
As a mark of respect, this year’s march will finish at Sligo City Hall, where a vigil in April was held in remembrance for two Sligo men who were brutally attacked and killed in hate related assaults the town
