Finn Harps off the bottom after timely 3-0 win

Finn Harps moved off the bottom of the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division on Friday night thanks to a vital 3-0 win over Drogheda United at Finn Park.

A Filip Mihaljević penalty and two goals from American Eric McWoods gave Ollie Horgan’s side their first win in 12 matches.

With UCD’s secheduled league game against Shamrock Rovers postponed, it gave Harps the opportunity to move two points clear of the students at the foot of the Premier Division table.

The win came on the same day as the junior Minister for Sport, Jack Chambers, confirmed that approval in principle had been given for Harps reconfigured plans for their new Donegal Community Stadium project.

This appears to pave the way for work to re-start on the stadium in the near future.
