Man who died after falling near Sligo waterfall named locally



The man who died after falling in Glencar earlier this week has been named locally.

 

Anthony Doorhy from Loughrea, Co Galway, tragically died after being reported missing at around 7pm on Monday.

 

The Sligo Leitrim Mountain Rescue Team were tasked to the Devil’s Chimney area to assist in the search for the missing walker.

 

Mr. Doorhy, who was in his 60s, was hauled 20 meters from the base of a gully to the top of the embankment where further treatment was provided by paramedics.

 

Despite their best efforts, Mr Doorhy succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

 

His family has thanked all those that were involved in the major rescue attempt.
