Donegal Mountain Rescue issue advice to campers after false alarm

Donegal Mountain Rescue has issued advice to campers following a false alarm in recent days which sparked a major rescue effort.

On Friday, the team were tasked by An Garda Síochána and Malin Head coastguard after bystanders had contacted emergency services, concerned after discovering an abandoned tent near Glen in Donegal.

An urgent appeal was issued  for the owners to come forward.

Sometime later, the team were stood down as the owner had made contact with an Garda Siochana.

Donegal Mountain Rescue is advising that if a tent is ever left unattended for any period of time, it is a good idea to leave a note with contact details and information on when you will return, so as not to alarm others.
