Donegal TD claims new guidelines on personal injuries is benefiting insurance companies and not customers



A Donegal TD has expressed concern that new legislation introduced around personal injuries is lining the pockets of insurance companies, while there is little evidence in any reductions on the premiums that customers are forced to pay.

 

Compensation paid out by the Personal Injuries Assessment Board fell by almost a quarter last year.

 

With the number of accidents were 43 per cent lower than in 2019.

 

Motor claims were down 31 per cent, public liability claims were down by 27 per cent, while employer liability claims were down by 28 per cent.
