Donegal Mountain Rescue issues warning after two separate call outs

Donegal Mountain Rescue has issued a warning after dealing with two separate incidents yesterday.

Yesterday morning, shortly before 10am, An Garda Siochana Galway contacted Donegal Mountain Rescue team to assist a walker who had taken unwell on the Miners Path at Muckish Mountain. DMRT responded and using SarCall, his location was obtained.

A hasty team made their way to his location and made contact with the casualty. After receiving medical attention, the casualty was assisted in returning to the car park. The team stood down shortly after midday

Later that day, the team were tasked just before 7.30pm to Maghera Caves to assist an exhausted walker. The team were subsequently stood down as An Garda Siochana and the Coast Guard were already on scene and assisting the casualty.

People are being reminded that if they are hill walking during the current hot spell, to dress appropriately, bring plenty of water and wear sunscreen.

In a statement, Donegal Mountain Rescue says that it can be as precarious heading for the mountains in hot weather as it is in cold and stormy weather and people are being asked to take care over these next few days as temperatures rise.
