Donegal GP expresses concern with mounting Hospital Waiting Lists

A Donegal GP is warning of the dangers that long hospital waiting lists are having on the health of people.

482 people have been waiting over five years for hospital treatment at the North West two main Hospitals.

According to freedom of information figures, 85 people have been waiting over 5 years for their first out patient consultant appointment at Sligo University Hospital while the figure at Letterkenny University Hospital stands at 397.

Nationally over 5,200 people have been waiting over five years for hospital treatment.

They’re looking for an outpatient, inpatient or day-case appointment.

Donegal GP Ciaran Ó Fearraigh  says long delays can have serious consequences.
