Sligo Grammar School student Maebh McLoughlin is part of the Ireland under-16 girls hockey squad which flies out to Edinburgh this weekend to play an international three-match series against Scotland.
15-year-old McLoughlin, from Rosses Point, is the sole Connacht representative on the 24-strong squad, and is the first Sligo Grammar student to play girls international hockey at this grade.
She is also a noted golfer, and competed earlier this week in the Irish girls close championship at Kilkeel in county Down.
The three-match Scotland series begins on Friday.
The U16 squad is then scheduled to travel to Spain in mid-July for another summer series of games.
