Mica Scheme can be revisited should research find the need – O’Brien

Housing Minister Darragh O’Brien has given reassurances that the final Mica Redress Scheme can be revisited should research find that the foundations of mica affected homes need to be replaced.

An independent investigation is currently ongoing as it relates to whether or not mica is present in the foundations however speaking in the Dail, Minister O’Brien says that currently, there is no evidence to suggest that there is.

Minister O’Brien was responding to questions from Donegal Sinn Fein TDs Pearse Doherty and Padraig MacLochlainn within the last hour.

Minister O’Brien also reiterated that the priority for Government is to get the scheme up and running before summer recess.

However, both Deputy Doherty and MacLochlainn were adamant that changes need to be made to the scheme now before it gets off the ground.
