Donegal Senator warns against repeating the mistakes of the past through creation of special education centres



A Donegal Senator says the state is repeating the mistakes of the past when it comes to the educational needs of children with special needs.

 

Senator Eileen Flynn says for many years the model of educating children from the traveller community in traveller specific schools created inequality in society.

 

The Donegal Senator says the state is running the risk of repeating this mistake by creating specific education centres for children with learning needs.

 

The independent senator says she was disappointed with the response of the Minister of State with responsibility for Special Education and Inclusion, Josepha Madigan when she raised the matter with her in the Seanad earlier this morning:
