Hopes new pub scheme will benefit Sligo



A marketing manager in Sligo believes that a new scheme for pubs will bring about more revenue for the local economy.

 

The 2.6 million euro pilot scheme announced by government yesterday will allow the likes of pubs, nightclubs and cafes to look for funding to put on shows at off-peak times.

 

Applicants could get up to 10,000 euro to put on shows.

 

It’s aimed at encouraging more people into towns and cities in the evenings as well as providing work for artists.
