Two people arrested in human trafficking probe in Donegal



A man has appeared in court in Donegal today as part of a Garda investigation into human trafficking and money laundering.

 

Gardaí from the Human Trafficking Investigation and Coordination Unit at the Garda National Protective Services Bureau carried out an operation in Letterkenny on Monday of this week in relation to an ongoing investigation into organised crime, human trafficking, organised prostitution, and money laundering.

 

The man who is in his 40s was arrested under organised crime legislation, appeared before Falcarragh District Court (sitting in Letterkenny) this morning charged with an offence under the Illegal Immigrants (Trafficking) Act 2000.

 

A further arrest took place this morning and that individual remains in Garda Custody at this time under the same legislation.
