The latest sitting of Sligo County Council has heard a case of a local woman who lost thousands of euro as a result of the ongoing passport debacle.
The woman put in her passport application at the beginning of February with her holiday booked for the end of last month yet due to the massive backlog had to cancel her plans, losing money as a result.
Sligo Sinn Fein Cllr Arthur Gibbons has described the situation as ridiculous and says that there should be a passport office established in every county in a bid to address the significant delays:
