Sligo Councillors to contact Health Minister in relation to overcrowding at Sligo University Hospital.



Sligo County Council is to write to Health Minister Stephen Donnelly over concerns regarding overcrowding at Sligo University Hospital.

 

The hospital was the second most overcrowded nationwide with 51 people waiting for a bed at the facility.

 

The issue was raised at the latest sitting of Sligo County Council with some Cllrs describing the Emergency Department in Sligo as outdated and unfit for purpose.

 

Sligo Fianna Fail Cllr Rosaleen O’Grady says while the planned additional surgical unit is positive it’ll do little to address issues in the short term:
