Donegal make winning start to All-Ireland championship

Donegal have made a winning start to their 2022 TG4 All-Ireland senior football championship following Saturday evening’s 0-10 to 1-5 victory over Waterford in their Group D match played in Birr.

Team captain Niamh McLaughlin (pictured) was named Player of the Match.

Maxi Curran’s side led by six points early in the second half but had to hold off a late rally from Waterford.

A goal from Aisling Mullaney reduced the gap to a single point – but Donegal held firm to win by two in the end.

Next up for Donegal is a trip to Clane in county Meath next Sunday (June 19th) to play Munster champions Cork at 2pm.

Two teams from Group D will qualify for the All-Ireland quarter-finals.
