Sligo Councillor warns any travel bans to ease fuels crisis will negatively impact north west

A Sligo Councillor is warning against the reintroduction of any moves which would restrict travel on the island of Ireland

There is speculation that workers could be asked to work from home in the event of a major fuel crisis sparked by the war in Ukraine.

There is speculation that the proposals are included under secret Government emergency plans.

Other measures could include a limit being placed on all non-essential car travel and a limit on the amount of fuel motorists can buy at any one time.

Sligo Solidarity People Before Profit Councillor Gino O Boyle says such moves would negatively impact rural areas where transport services are not in a position to service the needs of commuters.
