Coleman out of Ukraine game tonight

Republic of Ireland captain Seamus Coleman will miss Wednesday night’s Nations League game against Ukraine at the Aviva Stadium because of a groin injury.

Team manager Stephen Kenny confirmed on Tuesday that his skipper is ruled out – and said it was ‘too early to say’ if the Killybegs man would feature in Ireland’s remaining two games in June against Scotland on Saturday, and Ukraine again next Tuesday.

Ireland lost their opening Nations League game to Armenia 1-0 last Saturday – and so will be looking to bounce back with a win tonight.

Ukraine are coming off the back of last Sunday’s World Cup qualifier play-off loss to Wales, which denied them a place at the World Cup finals in Qatar later this year.

Kick-off at the Aviva Stadium on Wednesday evening is at 7:45pm – and the game is being televised live on RTÉ2.
