548 Ukrainian pupils attending North West Schools



The Department of Education has confirmed that as of 3 June, 548 Ukrainian pupils have been enrolled in schools across Sligo, Leitrim, and Donegal.

 

Out of that figure, 395 of these pupils have been accommodated in primary schools while 153 pupils have enrolled in post-primary schools.

 

There are 87 Ukrainian refugees attending schools in Sligo 49 in Primary schools and 38 in Post Primary.

In Leitrim, there are 117 in Primary schools and 30 in Post Primary while in Donegal there are 229 in Primary schools across the county and 85 in secondary schools.

 

Nationally 6,797 Ukrainian pupils have been enrolled in schools across Ireland. 4,766 of these pupils have been accommodated in primary schools while 2,031 pupils have enrolled in post-primary schools.

 

 

To assist with the transition of Ukrainian refugees and their families into Irish schools Regional Education and Language Teams (REALT) continue to operate, hosted by the 16 regional education and training boards around Ireland and staffed by regionally based education support personnel.
