Sligo heading for relegation play-offs after Tyrone loss

Sligo women’s gaelic footballers are facing a TG4 All-Ireland intermedaite football championship relegation play-off following Sunday’s 4-12 to 1-12 loss to Ulster champions Tyrone in their second and final Group D game in Killyclogher.

Sligo produced an improved display from their 6-22 to 0-7 hammering by Laois last weekend, as they went toe-to-toe with Tyrone in the first-half and the sides were level at half-time (2-4 to 1-7).

However, two more Tyrone goals in the second-half saws the Ulster side pull clear of Anthony Brennan’s side and they would eventually run out winners by nine points.

With two defeats from their two groups games, Sligo will finish bottom of Group D and must now plan for a relegation play-off against Down on June 26th in order to preserve their intermediate championship status for 2023.
