Sligo’s Niall Murphy to miss Tailteann Cup quarter-final

Sligo are set to be without their chief marksman in attack, Niall Murphy, for this Sunday’s Tailteann Cup quarter-final against Leitrim in Carrick-on-Shannon.

Murphy has a hamstring injury which was picked up training last week.

He was introduced briefly during last Saturday’s extra-time win against London, but had to be taken off again just a couple of moments later.

Sligo managed to beat London without him on a final scoreline of 3-15 to 2-14 AET – but Murphy’s absence is a setback for Tony McEntee as he prepares his team for the Leitrim challenge this weekend.

Andy Moran is hopeful one of his key forwards, Ryan O’Rourke, available for selection again after he missed the victory over Antrim in round 1 of the Tailteann last Saturday.

The big carrot for both north west counties this weekend is that the winner will go to Croke Park.

Both Tailteann Cup semi-finals are set to be played at GAA headquarters on June 19th – and they will also be televised live.

Supporters are reminded that tickets for this Sunday’s quarter-finals must be bought in advance online.

There will be no general sale of tickets at the ground on Sunday.

Ticket prices for Sunday are:
Adults: €20
Students/OAPs: €15
U16s: €5.

The game will be broadcast live on Ocean FM – and wll also be streamed online by GAAGO.
