McSharry wins silver medal in Barcelona



Sligo’s Mona McSharry has won a silver medal at the prestigous Mare Nostrum Swim Tour event in Barcelona.

She finished second in the final of the women’s 200 metres in 2.25.58 secs behind Britain’s Molly Renshaw.

Another Irish swimmer Niamh Coyne finished 8th in the same race.

McSharry, a scholarship student at the University of Tennessee, had finish sixth earlier this week in her strongest event, the 100 metres breaststroke.

The Grange woman has already been selected for the Ireland team which will compete at the European Championships in Rome in August.
