Concern over ‘slow progress’ on proposed Renal Unit at Sligo University Hospital



Serious concern has been raised over what’s been described as slow progress on the proposed Renal Unit capital project at Sligo University Hospital.

 

A number of locations are currently being reviewed on the hospital campus in terms of suitability for the new service.

 

While an application for the future inclusion of the project on the HSE Capital Plan as a prioritised project will also be submitted to national level later this year.

 

In the interim, the possibility of providing 4 additional Dialysis bays in Sligo is also being explored.

 

Local Fianna Fail Cllr Donal Gilroy says while that is somewhat positive, some patients have to currently travel to Cavan for dialysis and the project really needs to be moving quicker:
