Local TD urges speedy resolution to be found for medical scientist’s dispute

A Sligo Leitrim TD and Minister of State for Public Health has in the Dáil today paid tribute to the work carried out by Medical Scientists during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Over 2,000 staff engaged in strike action last week and again yesterday which resulted in disruption at hospitals across the Country.

Planned industrial action for today by the MLSA was suspended following an invitation to all negotiating parties to attend the Labour Court.

Junior Minister Frank Feighan acknowledged the pressure that medical scientists are currently under due to the number of vacancies that exist in the sector.

The Fine Gael TD says it’s vital that the dispute is resolved so as to facilitate ongoing elective procedures and the early diagnosis of ‘time sensitive’ medical conditions
