Fears over potential surgeon crisis at Sligo University Hospital



There are fears Sligo University Hospital will start losing consultants if significant progress isn’t made on the new surgical facility.

 

The new block has been in the planning for some time and still has to go through a number of stages until the project gets off the ground.

 

It’s estimated that 26% of the consultant posts at Sligo are not filled on a permanent basis.

 

The issue was raised at the latest sitting of the Regional Health Forum West by Sligo Fianna Fail Cllr Donal Gilroy.
