Coleman & Everton earn Premier League safety

Seamus Coleman and Everton ensured Premier League football for next season with Thursday night’s 3-2 win at home to Crystal Palace.

Home fans poured onto the pitch at full-time to celebrate a win which confirmed that Everton can’t be relegated.

Frank Lampard’s side had found themselves in a battle to avoid the drop following a sequence of disappointing results in recent weeks.

Coleman again captained Everton to Thursday night’s win.

They had to come from two-nil down to beat Palace 3-2 and move four points clear of the relegation zone with one game to play.

Everton have spent more seasons (119) in the top tier of English league football than any other club to date.

The Goodison Park club remain one of six  clubs who have never been relegated from the Premier League since its creation in 1992.

The others are Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United, Tottenham and Chelsea.

The Crystal Palace manager, Patrick Vieira, was involved in a confrontation with a fan on the pitch after the final whistle on Thursday night.

In footage widely shared on social media, Vieira appears to aim a kick at the man taunting him.
