Leitrim Councillor frustrated by lack of progress on wool feasibility study

A Leitrim Councillor is expressing his frustration at the lack of progress into the publication of a feasibility study that was tasked with identifying potential uses for Irish Wool.

Manorhamilton MD Councillor Justin Warnock put forward the suggestion claiming that wool as a product was not being utilised enough in this Country.

Almost 4 million sheep are shared here on an annual basis and it’s thought that large quantities of wool is current in storage across the Country.

Cllr Warnock says that with no markets in place for wool a compensation scheme should be put in place to cover farmers shearing costs.
