Fears expressed that changes to Protocol could damage investment in Ireland

A representative from the ‘Border Communities against Brexit’ is warning that any changes the British Government make to the Protocol ‘could have hugely damaging impacts’ on business confidence both north and south of the border.

The UK Government’s expected to unveil plans to bin parts of the Northern Ireland protocol today; a move which could trigger a trade war with the EU.

The DUP’s refusing to take part in power-sharing until its issues with the post-Brexit trading arrangement are scrapped.

It’s understood UK Foreign Secretary Liz Truss will make an announcement in Parliament later.

Damien McGennity from the Border Communities against Brexit says any changes to protocol will discourage companies investing in this region.
