440 Ukrainian pupils currently enrolled in North West schools



There are 440 Ukrainian pupils currently enrolled in schools in the North West.

 

There are 84 students in County Sligo and 95 in Leitrim.

 

Donegal had the biggest number of pupils in the region, at 259.

 

The latest figures from the Department of Education show that are 5,843 Ukrainian pupils enrolled in Irish schools right across the country.

 

To assist with the transition of Ukrainian refugees and their families into Irish schools Regional Education and Language Teams (REALT) are now in place, hosted by the 16 regional education and training boards around Ireland and staffed by regionally based education support personnel.
