Leitrim retain Connacht LGFA title

Leitrim women’s gaelic footballers are celebrating back-to-back Connacht intermediate football titles following Sunday’s 1-14 to 0-14 victory over Roscommon in Tuam.

The final, a repeat of the 2021 decider which Leitrim won last December, was a closely contested and entertaining affair with the sides level at the interval (Leitrim 1-4 Roscommon 0-7).

Leah Fox’s well-taken first-half goal ensured Leitrim went in at half-time on level terms.

Fox would contribute 1-2 in total but the Leitrim’s chief scorer in this final was full foward Michelle Guckian, who scored an impressive 0-10 to claim the Player of the Match award.

She spoke to Angelina Nugent on the Connacht LGFA live stream after the win.
