A new multi-use water sports facility at Acres Lake in Leitrim has been formally approved for construction by Leitrim County Council.
The decision was taken at Monday’s meeting of the council and the new development will also include extensive car-parking and indoor service facilties near the Boardwalk at Acres Lake in Drumshanbo.
Local residents have raised concerns about the proposed development in recent months but it appears the project is now set to go ahead.
The new water sports facility has already been granted funding by Fáilte Ireland as part of its national water development programme.
