Justice Minister says extra resources will be vital in fight against rural crime



The Justice Minister says the deployment of officers from the Garda training centre in Templemore will be ‘a key resource’ in the ongoing fight against rural crime.

 

Minister McEntee was in Sligo today where she addressed The Prison Officers’ Association annual conference in the Radisson Hotel.

 

On the invitation of Junior Minister and Sligo Leitrim TD Frank Feighan she also visited Sligo Garda Station where meet with detectives and officers that have worked on recent murder cases in the region.

Speaking to OceanFM news Minister McEntee says ‘It’s a priority for Garda management to address the levels of crimes in rural areas such as Sligo.’

 

She says Gardai graduating from the training college in Templemore will be deployed to areas such as the north west.

 

The justice Minister also expressed her satisfaction with the garda investigations into the murders of Michael Snee and Aidan Moffitt.
