A public meeting will take place in Ballymote, Co Sligo this Thursday evening with the aim of setting up a community council for the town.
It follows a training programme called Innovating Communities to encourage people in rural areas that are open to new ideas and ways of working.
‘Breathing Life Into Ballymote’ is the name of an Innovating Communities course designed to maximise and harness Ballymote’s potential
This has now led to Thursday evening’s public meeting open to everyone, which will start at 8pm in The Coach House Hotel.
The meeting is being organised by a working group made up of members of the Ballymote community, volunteers and Sligo LEADER Partnership support staff.
CEO of Sligo LEADER Partnership Company, John Feerick, has been telling Ocean FM News what it’s hoped Thursday evening’s meeting will achieve.
Ballymote businessman Padraic Rogers says the ultimate aim is to have an overall umbrella body to rejuvenate the town.
