Descendants of Ballymote family who lost 5 daughters in famine ship tragedy remember them



Descendants of a Ballymote family who lost five daughters when their famine ship sunk in 1847 walked from Ballymote to Sligo Port at the weekend to remember them. Patrick Kaveney and his wife, Sarah McDonald, of Cross, Ballymote, and their six children had boarded the Carricks of Whithaven famine ship at Sligo Port, headed for Canada
