Leitrim begin Connacht LGFA title defence against Roscommon

Leitrim women’s gaelic footballers begin the defence of their Connacht LGFA intermediate football championship title this Friday evening when they take on Roscommon at St Croan’s GAA Club in Enfield, Roscommon at 6pm.

Hugh Donnelly’s side come up against the team they famously beat in last December’s Connacht final to lift the 2021 provincial title.

The 2022 Connacht LGFA intermediate championship is being played on a round-robin basis with the top two teams from the group stage qualifying directly for the provincial decider on May 15th.

Clare are the new additions to the Connacht intermediate championship having been granted admission by the LGFA’s Central Council earlier this year.

Anthony Brennan’s Sligo make up the quartet contesting the Connacht intermediate championship this year.

Their match against Clare, which was scheduled for Curry this Saturday, has been postponed.

Sligo’s opening championship game will now be against Roscommon on Sunday, April 24th, at Dr Hyde Park (1pm).

They will then be away to Leitrim on April 30th.

After Friday evening’s opening clash with Roscommon, Leitrim will take on Clare on the 24th in Dromod at 1pm.
