Sligo Rovers suffer back-to-back home defeats

Sligo Rovers suffered a second consecutive home defeat in Tuesday night’s re-arranged SSE Airtricity League Premier Division game against Bohemians at the Showgrounds as Keith Long’s (pictured) side earned a deserved 1-0 victory.

Liam Burt’s first-half goal proved decisive on the night as the Dubliners continually frustrated their opponents and seemed to show the greater hunger and desire.

In front of an attendance of 2,209, Rovers had to play without their injured leading scorer Aidan Keena.

Max Mata took his place up front and was presented with two decent scoring chances in the opening half – but the Kiwi was unable to converted either of them.

In truth, Bohemians created the majority of chances and might have won by more but for the goalkeeping of Ed McGinty.

Paddy Kirk had a late chance to snatch an equaliser following a fine Karl O’Sullivan cross but Bohs held on to claim all three points.
