Carney 10K & Half-Marathon make Easter Monday return

After a two-year pandemic-enforced absence, the popular Carney 10K road race makes a return to the local athletics calendar in Sligo on Easter Monday, April 18th, 2022.

This year, organisers have introduce a half-marathon which will see the first male and female finishers each receive the Gerry Moran Perpetual Trophy in memory of one of the stalwart organisers of the Carney 10K down through the years, who passed away since the last edition of the race was held in 2019.

Entries for this year’s 10K and half-marathon will be mainly online via coretiming.ie and runireland.com.

The popular Carney Walk will also take place on Easter Monday.

Two of the organising them this year, Damien Kerrigan and Sean McCaffrey have been talking to Ocean FM Sport’s Austin O’Callaghan about this year’s event.
