Letterkenny Hospital third most overcrowded for month of March



The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation say March was the worst month on record for people awaiting a hospital bed.

Letterkenny University Hospital was the third most impacted nationally with a total of 781 patients forced to wait including 12 today.

Sligo University Hospital was the sixth most overcrowded around the country for the month with 606 waiting and 34 today.

A total of 11,001 people were waiting for a bed in ireland for the month of March with 469 waiting today.

92 Covid-19 patients are being treated in the north west’s two main hospitals today; down 38 on the same time last week.

54 people are in Letterkenny University Hospital and 38 in Sligo University Hospital; there is also one patient in the ICU in both hospitals.

1,535 people are in an Irish hospital with the virus today, 49 of whom are in an ICU.
