Man accused of aggravated burglary due to appear before Sligo District Court



One of the three men being held in custody on charges of aggravated burglary at the home of 73-year old Tom Niland in west Sligo last January is expected to seek bail before today’s sitting of Sligo District Court.

 

He is 28-year old John Irving, from Shanwar, Foxford, Co Mayo, the youngest of the three men charged as a result of the attack on Mr Niland, who still remains in critical condition in Sligo University Hospital.

 

Meanwhile, the other two accused, 33-year old John Clarke, Carrowkelly, Ballina and 54-years old Francis Harmon, 10 Nephin Court, Killala Road, Ballina, are to appear by video link before Harristown Court.

 

All three, who have been granted free legal aid, are charged with burglary and having a knife at the home of Mr Niland, at Doonflynn, Skreen on January 18th last.
