St Patrick’s Day final for Sligo under-20 footballers

Sligo’s Under 20 footballers Philly McGuinness Cup final meeting with Westmeath has been scheduled for St. Patrick’s Day at the Connacht GAA Centre of Excellence in Bekan.

The competition is in remembrance of former Mohill and Leitrim footballer Philly McGuinness who died at the age of 26 in 2010 after sustaining a head injury while playing for Mohill in a club game.

The final, which is usually scheduled for Mohill GAA’s home grounds Philly McGuinness Memorial Park will be played in Bekan due to the fact the Leitrim venue has been deemed unplayable.

Having lost the final to Tyrone two years ago, Dessie Sloyan’s Sligo will aim to win cup following three group stage wins against Fermanagh, Longford and Leitrim.

The final will have a 2:30pm throw-in time and tickets are available at the following link: https://www.universe.com/events/philly-mcguinness-u20-final-sligo-v-westmeath-tickets-V95GTH
