Walker suffers serious injuries on Knocknarea mountain



 

A man remains in Sligo University Hospital this morning following injuries sustained on Knocknarea mountain yesterday.

 

Personnel from the Sligo Leitrim Mountain Rescue Team were called to the Queen Maeve Trail in County Sligo yesterday to treat a walker who had sustained injuries while walking in the area.

 

It’s understood A 75-year-old man suffered a serious lower leg injury.

 

The injured man was assessed by a team medic, who treated the casualty for a dislocated kneecap.

 

The injured walker was stabilised and transferred onto the stretcher and was brought by ambulance to Sligo University Hospital.

 

His injuries are being described as serious but not life-threatening

 

Members of An Garda Siochana and National Ambulance Service were also involved in the rescue operation.
