Donegal Independent TD, Thomas Pringle, is calling on the government to provide additional funding for piers and harbours on islands under the Brexit Adjustment Reserve Funding.
He says Donegal County Council alone are responsible for around 450 piers and harbours throughout the county and islands off the North West coast.
Deputy Pringle believes island economies face extra difficulties as is such as getting fish to market.
He says Brexit is a ‘double whammy’ for islands.
