The Sligo/Leitrim Labour Party constituency council has nominated Ivana Bacik to be the next leader of the party.
A barrister, Ivana Bacik represents the Dublin Bay South Constituency.
The former senator was elected to the Dail in a by-election in July last year.
Sligo-based Labour representative Nessa Cosgrove says that despite Bacik’s urban political background, she is keen to connect with those in the rural areas and towns of the north west.
