Donegal fall to Farney defeat

A blistering opening 15 minutes provided Monaghan the platform for victory over Donegal at Mac Cumhaill Park on Sunday afternoon.

Two Conor McManus frees, Conor McCarthy and Dessie Ward all found the uprights as well as Andrew Woods raising the green flag for the Farney County.

Donegal scored four points in the opening half despite the weather conditions being in their favour in Ballybofey with Monaghan holding a six-point lead at the interval.

Declan Bonner’s side failed to claw back the margin with Michael Murphy and Patrick McBrearty trying their hardest for the Tir Chonaill men.

Donegal have two games remaining in their Division One campaign. They travel to Croke Park to face Dublin on Sunday, March 20th and in the final round they host Armagh in a dress rehearsal of the Ulster Senior Football Championship Quarter Final.
