All-Stars enjoy convincing win over LYIT Donegal

EJ Sligo All-Stars concluded their regulation series of games in Division 1 of the men’s national basketball league on Saturday with a decisive 85-44 win over LYIT Donegal in Letterkenny.

Keith Jordan was the game’s top scorer with 24 points, while Cian Lally supplied 20 and Oisin O’Reilly 12.

The result sees the All-Stars finish the North Conference on 36 points, nine clear of second placed with Malahide, with Drogheda Wolves and Dublin Lions also securing play-off places next weekend.

For LYIT, Saturday’s result completed a dismal season as they finished bottom of the conference with just one victory this season from 14 league games.

The All-Stars can now look forward to a home quarter-final in the end-of-season play-offs next weekend against the fourth-placed team from the southern conference, which will be Fr Matthew’s.

The Cork side were confirmed as Sligo’s play-off opponents following Satuday night’s games.

That game will be broadcast live next Saturday evening (March 19th) from the Mercy College Gym in Sligo on Ocean FM, in association with Sligo Estates, Quay Street, Sligo.

Tip-off will be at 7:3opm.
