New museum opens at Lough Derg; pilgrimages to begin in May

A new lakeshore museum, the ‘Pilgrim Shelter Museum’ has opened at Lough Derg in Co. Donegal.

Preparations are also underway to welcome back pilgrims from the 1st of May this year after the pilgrimage was suspended for the first time since 1828 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

St. Patrick’s Sanctuary has been a holy place for over 1,500 years with pilgrimages taking place since at least the 9th century.

Speaking to OceanFM News, Fr. La Flynn gives a run down of what people can expect and also gives the recipe for the prestigious ‘Lough Derg Soup’.
