IT Sligo Footballers set for Lynch Cup semi-final



IT  Sligo’s Senior ‘A’ Ladies gaelic footballers are in Dublin on Friday afternoon for the semi-final of third level college’s Yoplait HEC Lynch Cup.

Their last four tie with St. Mary’s University College, Belfast is set for a 3pm throw-in time at Dublin City University’s St. Patrick’s Campus Astro Turf pitch.

Gavin Cawley’s side defeated their Belfast opponents by eight points in Round One of the competition in February.

The squad is backboned by a number of players from Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal.

Sligo players: Aoife Morrissroe (Shamrock Gaels), Megan Davey Jemma Brehony (Both Geevagh), Lisa Powell (Eastern Harps), Hannah Walsh (St. Nathy’s), Louise Merrick (Shamrock Rovers), Emma Norman, Chloe Norman (Both Calry/ St. Joseph’s) , Lauren Fitzgerald, Laura Conway (Both Eoghan Rua) and Keighleigh Cawley (St. Mary’s).

Leitrim players: Niamh McDonagh (St. Francis Ladies), Rachel Mc Partlin (Naomh Padraig).

Donegal players: Róisín Rodgers (Naomh Muire), Niamh Boyle, Niamh Brown (Both St. Nauls) and Claire Byrne (Naomh Columba)

Should IT Sligo win their semi-final they will face the winners of TUS Midlands in Saturday’s final, which is scheduled for 12pm in Dublin City University’s Astro Turf pitch.
